The majority of my life has been set in the sound industry. Dimly lit rooms, stages and studio lots were common place. If the space in which I was employed had a window it peered into another studio. From my late teens to mid twenties I was as a musician playing banjo in a progressive bluegrass band. Later in my twenties I worked in broadcast news first as an engineer/producer in radio and later as a live television sound mixer. By happenstance I ended up in California during my early thirties and ended up in the entertainment industry working in post production sound for movies and television. When my children were born I purchased a camera to capture their childhood. I became fairly versed in portraiture photography after several years. Following them around and constant presence of a camera began to wear on my kids. At a certain point my children requested that I find something else to shoot. To honor their request, that is what I now do. Whatever happens before me I attempt to capture. To a large degree Serendipity factors into my photography. Whether it be portrait, nature, street, landscape, or smoke photography, each discipline has its own distinct opportunity and challenges.
